This mural characterizes the desire for growth and a striving towards that growth through hard work, in spite of the challenges. It is intended to be simultaneously representative of the Westside, of Atlanta as a whole, and of the artist’s own story. As a refugee, Sanithna’s mother built their lives from the ground up in this city, with nothing but desire and dedication. Her tenacity has been his model, as he’s made his life here as an artist with the same spirit.
Sanithna Phansavanh is an artist who lives and works in his native city of Atlanta, Georgia. His work considers the cycle of creation and impermanence, particularly in the human experience of Nature. Ranging from small pencil drawings to large-scale painted murals, his work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, with notable showings at the High Museum of Art, on the Atlanta BeltLine, as a part of the Living Walls Conference, and through the City of Atlanta’s Public Art programs.
