All power to the people. This slogan rings true all throughout history, but more specifically, comes from the Black Panthers. While the Black Panthers have their critiques, this message should be the goal for any work towards social justice. It's a simple line, but it holds power. SOFAHOOD wanted this mural to empower Black queer folks in Atlanta and remind them that they deserve the world.
SOFAHOOD creates content for the marginalized. As a Black and afro-latinx; visibly and loudly queer; chubby fupa-having; passionate leftist; generally hairy yet short-haired; agender yet woman-identifying artist, SOFAHOOD focuses on the complex feelings and ordinary moments of the unheard through loud colors and even louder subject matters.
โTo folks like me, I hope you find a piece of yourself in my art. This is for us.โ
