Drew Bordersis an African American Muralist, Illustrator, and 2D Animator. She currently resides in Atlanta, GA working as a Freelancer. Drew's work is driven by a desire for representation amongst people of color. She received her formal training at the Savannah College of Art and Design where she graduated with a B.F.A. in Animation. Her work utilizes the combination of paint and spray paint. Drew has worked with a variety of companies, public art organizations, and galleries throughout Atlanta, Charlotte, NC, Oklahoma, NYC, and Miami. She continues to use bright colors to bring a sense of vibrancy, excitement, and life to her portraits of Black and Brown women to combat stigmas and stereotypes such marginalized groups experience. The history of her people is incredibly important. Drew as she explores the joy, wonder, and magic of Black culture over time as it evolves instead of centering on the trauma and pain.
When we get together to share different ideas, cultures, and perspectives, we can create something magical. Where the characters touch, a spark is created which illuminates a path to better understanding. The light and vibrancy surrounding their connection represent a forming kinship that envelopes them as they recognize and appreciate their differences. They are linked together through their ties to Atlanta, celebrating Atlanta’s culture and creativity with their accessories and personal styles.
