This mural is part of Living Walls Abroad: Nuevos Monumentos, an international exchange of artists between Atlanta and Mexico City. In October 2022, SOFAHOOD traveled to Mexico City to paint this mural, and Mexican artist MAREMOTO traveled to Atlanta to paint a mural at Agnes Scott College. The goal of this program is to create an exchange of ideas, cultures, and talents around the world through public art, and to provide a platform for LGBTQ+ women artists to imagine new monuments.

SOFAHOOD (she/they) is an Atlanta-based Black and afro-Latinx, agender yet woman-identifying artist. Sofahood creates content for the marginalized. Through loud colors and even louder subject matters, their art focuses on the complex feelings and ordinary moments of the unheard.

I want to show unconditional love in queer relationships, friendships, and chosen families.
